Reparo helped an entrepreneur access funding for a newly acquired bar. The experienced entrepreneur already had experience in the sector and wanted to open his latest acquisition in a short timeframe; the loan of £50,000 was used to ensure a speedy refurbishment.
At the start, the refurbishment work required a small injection of cash, and accessing bank financing proved challenging. Although the entrepreneur had a good track record, there were factors that meant the bank’s lending process was likely to be lengthy:
- The sector is not currently popular with lenders. However, Reparo assesses each case on its own merits, regardless of sector.
- The bar industry generates seasonal revenue, so the management accounts showed inconsistent cashflow. While this is normal for the industry, it can delay lending with traditional lenders.
Although the entrepreneur may have been able to access funding from traditional lenders there would have been a delay, and with the Christmas season on the horizon there was no time to waste.
